Young: I would vote for Bob Barr

Dennis Young would cast a ballot for the leader of the U.S. Libertarian Party

Dennis Young - November 3, 2008

With few exceptions, I believe in the ideas being promoted by Ron Paul. Since he's no longer in the running, I would have few choices. I don't believe in a welfare/warfare state, which makes the Obama/McCain ticket impossible to endorse.

Bob Barr's voting record has some high points, but also some very dubious distinctions. There is also the question of his authenticity as a libertarian. I have been scrutinized in the same manner due to my past as a soldier/policeman. I consider myself a prime example of someone who has seen the light and changed his views. I am as libertarian as any big-name thinker. I hope Bob Barr has undergone the same transition.

I would take the risk and vote for Bob Barr, warts and all. The alternative is simply endorsing a race to the bottom.
