Hugh MacIntyre: I would vote for Bob Barr
Western Standard blogger Hugh MacIntyre says if he could vote in the U.S., he'd vote for Libertarian presidential candidate Bob Barr.

My vote would go to Bob Barr.
I would support a candidate from either major party if I felt that they were serious about balancing the budget. The greatest long-term danger to the United States is the deficit, yet neither Obama nor McCain has made it central to their campaign.
Both candidates have proposed increases in spending. Obama wants to cut programs to pay for new programs, which would be fine if there was already a surplus. McCain only talks about nickel-and-dime cuts without addressing the structural changes that Mulroney and Chretien put in place to fight the Canadian deficit.
Bob Barr has proposed a rethinking of government finances, and it is that sort of rethinking that America needs right now.
