A new Declaration of Independence

The Lakotah-Sioux have re-declared their independence, and are hoping to secede from the United States. As the Western Standard discovers, the Lakotah's struggles bears a striking resemblance to the struggles of the Nisga'a in British Columbia.

As Foster explains, this is not a matter of Canada being good and the United States being bad. Both nations have at times treated their aboriginal populations in shameful ways. Stubborn denial of this fact merely perpetuates injustice and fosters resentment. As the U.S. may soon learn, if this goes on long enough, the wronged parties may take matters-–and a new nation--into their own hands.
